Together with Evergreen Weddings, we designed and created a gorgeous styled shoot inspired by bold, modern colors mixed with luxury velvet touches and the intimate, romantic feel of Chatfield Hollow Inn in Killingworth, CT. Connecticut Wedding Planning and Design
We firmly believe that our style should never be visible at someone’s wedding. Although we work best with wedding couples who love certain styles (sophisticated boho, modern, vintage, and garden style are a few of our favorites), we believe that when we go to design a wedding, we are creating a representation of our couples – not us! That’s why styled shoots are so fun to be apart of from time to time. It keeps our creativity fresh to design what’s on our minds and see our visions come to life!
Bright, Bold, Primary Wedding Colors
For this styled shoot, we wanted to take color blocking (which is more frequently found in New York City weddings than Connecticut) and create a fun modern design. Color blocking is essentially combining the primary colors (blue, red and yellow) and pairing them to create something that stands out boldly. Although we love to play with color, we also didn’t want the design to be too harsh, so we paired the colors with velvet textures and a stunning outdoor backdrop that really softened the look.
The Wedding Design as an Experience
Chatfield Hollow Inn is an absolutely stunning Connecticut wedding venue. It was the perfect fit for this styled shoot because the soft organic look of the venue made the color design pop against it. As much as we love to design beautiful things, we also wanted it to really feel like a wedding experience. We pulled out all the stops, like we usually do! We put together a beautiful velvet lounge set behind the bar and stocked the bar with a full color block display of glassware.
Your Wedding Design becomes an experience on your wedding day. Your wedding design is a representation of who you are as a couple. We want your guests to experience YOU throughout every part of your wedding day. Whether they are at the bar grabbing a signature cocktail named after your fur-baby, conversing in a cozy lounge or reading the sweet note you’ve placed at each persons seated for dinner, we want your guests to experience YOU.
We listen carefully to what you are looking to create and we bring out the design, the experience and YOU in each detail of your day.
The design includes the floor plan and flow of the day, decor and vendor sourcing, wedding day timeline and, of course, your color palette. This concept of design is something the owner and creative director, Chelsea Suddes, talks about frequently on instagram. It is something she is truly passionate about and it is how she creates beautiful weddings for her couples and all their guests.
When you are designing your own wedding (without the help of a professional designer), it is often safer to stick to one concept. We combined so many different elements and looks for this styled shoot that the outcome was truly unique. Even something like the chairs, we combined the modern elements of the white metal chairs only to soften them again with velvet pillows from Gather and Lounge.
We had a lot of fun creating the reception decor. Some decor we had to source out, like pairing Petal and Plates vintage colored glassware with Floral Centerpieces by Flowers by Justine for the stunning and bright tablescapes you see below. And some decor we had to create just for this styled shoot, like the custom ceremony backdrop pictured above or the unique seating chart pictured below. We were able to work with an incredible team of vendors so make sure you check them out below.
The Wedding Couple’s Look
Last, but certainly not least, this styled shoot would not have been the same without the simple A-line dress from Love Bird Bridal Shop. The bride was strong and feminine and Simply Gorgeous by Erin designed her hair and makeup to mix the strong elements of the design and soft romantic feeling of her dress. Safe to say, she absolutely crushed it.
